The much awaited Junior Sports Day of Lawrence High School for Grades I & II was held on 24th
Nov ’18 at the CA 3 ground, adjacent to the school.
The afternoon began on a customary note with the flag ceremony, general salute, walk past, oath taking and torch lightning.
The sports event was declared open by the Chief Guest Dr. Sangeetha Saksena (Gynaecologist, Co-founder – Enfold) by releasing balloons of multiple hues representing the school houses. The shouts of excited children dressed in colourful attire filled the air.
Also present on the occasion were Mrs. Srinivasan (Guest of honour), Mr. P.M.Subbaiah (Chairman), Mrs. Pushpa Subbaiah (Managing trustee), Mrs. Sujatha Nagraj (Principal), Mrs. Rajeshwari Chalam (Vice Principal) Mrs. Raji Mathew (Head Mistress) and Mrs. Abhilasha Sharma (Kg Co-ordinator).
Mrs. Raji Mathew introduced the Chief Guest.
Dr. Sangeetha Saxena in her address stressed on the importance of sports in the lives of students. She also emphasized that at this age of primary school participation is more important than winning and encouraged all the students to participate vibrantly.
Chairman, Mr. P.M.Subbaiah also addressed the students and emphasised that while we must be aggressive to succeed, we must also play by the rules. He highlighted the importance of team work and the need to be there for each other.
The enthusiastic children of Grades I and II presented their splendid drills. The Grade I boys drill with balls and girls drill with pom-poms on Zumba music was a visual delight.
The Grade II boys drill with bamboo sticks and girls drill with fans won the hearts of the audience.
After the drill, the 50 metres running race was conducted for the boys and girls of grade I followed by the fun events.
The fun events included Gadget for every Budget, Find the Right Key, Tower of Cups, Minute to win it, Balance the Ball, Colourful Aquarium, Floral Fiesta, Bogey Wogey, Puzzle in the Puzzle, Soldiers of Lawrence, The Right Match, Pop a Pop, Aim the Bucket and Moon Walk.
Then the 50 metres running race was conducted for the boys and girls of Grade II followed by the fun events.
The fun events included Sort me Out, The Right Balancing, Zig Zag Dumbles, Crab Rack, Weekend Spree, Find Me Out, Book Boasters, Tap Tap, Fastest Fingers First, Paper Tennis, Rainbow Garland, Flag Race, Who Am I and Find and Bind.
The last event for the children was the shuttle relay for the boys and girls of grade I and II respectively.
It was a delight to see the little champions enjoying participating in all the events with the audience cheering and applauding in the background.
All the winners were rewarded with medals.
The collective energy of students, teachers and support staff made the entire event energetic and fun – filled.
The parents also participated in the game for parents.
The day concluded with a musical chair for the teachers followed by the closing ceremony.
The meet ended with the National Anthem.
