III Graders visited Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum on 24th
November 2017, as part of their Educational Trip. There were five main galleries in the museum varied aspects related to science and technology. The exhibits of airplane and steam engine were definitely among the eye-catchers there.
First gallery called as ‘The Engine Hall’
had engines of various cars, machines, jet aircraft engine and other erstwhile mechanical devices. The second was ‘How things work’
gallery. It included the pulley system, gears, levers, inclined planes and screws. The application of these simple machines, was beautifully displayed over there. Next, the third gallery was ‘The Electro Technic Gallery’
. It showed the basic principles of electricity, electronics and communication. Different classical experiments like Barlow’s wheel, Faraday’s ring etc were among the displays. The basics of biotechnology and its applications, including human genome sequencing was part of the fourth gallery ‘The Biotechnological Revolution Hall’
. Lastly the students visited their favourite area ‘ The Fun Science’
gallery. It explained the science of sound, optics fluids, math and perception. There was a ‘giant piano’ on which the children could dance and play.
The main objective of this visit was to give space to our student’s imagination for experimentation, inspiration, creativity, enjoyment. It was such an amazing learning experience for the students.
