Lawrence High School, ICSE observed Awareness Week at school from 13 June 2017 to 16 June 2017. Issues and concerns pertaining to the present day were discussed during this week.
Awareness allows us to get outside our mind and observe our surroundings in action. Health and hygiene for First Graders, People and Nature for Second Graders, Save Water, Paper and Electricity for Third Graders and Organic Farming for Fourth Grade were the themes that the students had to work on. During this week students made charts, spoke about their topics, conducted quiz and had role plays.
Colourful and creative charts were displayed on the class boards on Day One. The second day had the students being a part of the quiz which was conducted in the class depending on their topic. Children had to speak on their topics. Students were given badges which had a message on it. It was worth seeing the students flaunt their badges.
The awareness week concluded with role plays.
Grade V, VI & VII
Role play was the highlight of the Awareness week observed by Grade V students. They came up with the innovative ideas on the topic ‘Sports in India’. There were two role plays completely different from one another.The first role play was focused on the rules and regulations of the game ‘Kabadi’. Children enacted the game and spoke about the rules and regulations of the game. There was even a trial game between two teams. The second role play was ‘Importance of Games’ were students shared some valuable thoughts and differences between indoor and outdoor games. The students enjoyed both the role plays and learnt how sports played a vital role in our daily lives.
Students of Grade VI created awareness about Safeguarding India. They made charts and discussed sub-topics like ‘ India’s relationship with its neighbours’, ‘ Equipments and Accessories used for defence’,’ Role of Indian Armed Forces during maritime period’, ‘Protecting our coastlines and borders. Activities like Speech, Role play and Quiz were conducted on these topics. The fervour of patriotism was tangible among students as they took part in these activities with great enthusiasm. The week came to a close with students taking a pledge to do their best for the country.
Grade VII was assigned the topic ‘GERMAN TECHNOLOGY in Automobiles, food, infrastructure and consumer goods’. Students displayed colourful charts and banners and delivered a speech individually and in groups on the above topics. They also performed a skit on German automobiles and German food which gave us new information on the same. They wound their awareness campaign with a quiz on German Technology.Awareness week threw light on the high quality of German technology and made children aware of the latest mind boggling innovations by the Germans.
Class IX children got CAREER OPTION as their main topic. Engineering, Medicine, Defence, Entrepreneur were some of the sub topics given. Children of class IX took the topics very seriously and started working on it. The first day they canvassed their ideas on placards and charts. Placards on ‘Have your own idea & find your destination’’. “Discuss, demonstrate and decide” were well received. On second day students joined together and we had a powerful role play on career options. The role play depicted a twins brothers being confused about their future career due to varied advices from family, friends and others. Finally they analyze their strength and weakness and select their own career. The third day children performed a minute speech on the topic and the final day was the quiz day. During this week the children got to know many new things about their future career options.
Children of UKG classes participated and had different activities and teachers explained the topics like save water, save trees, save tigers, save sparrows, global warning etc children came up with charts, posters and enacted on the same.
